The first year we were together I almost ended things. We had started dating in September and when Valentines rolled around I took her to dinner and bought her flowers. She did nothing. For her birthday I got her a card, a present and took her to dinner. For my birthday she did nothing. She did the same nothing for our first anniversary.

I was incredibly hurt. But I convinced myself that she showed affection and love differently.

I should have ended things. I genuinely, truly wish we'd never met.
